Mary Spitzer Etter, a retired educator, left her family’s historic residence (also her birthplace), Spitzer House, to Central Shenandoah Arts(CSA) to establish a Virginia Museum affiliated Art Center. Spitzer House is a two-story Victorian House in downtown Harrisonburg, a few blocks west of Court Square on the corner of West Market Street.The Center offers workshops for adults and children offering painting, jewelry making, metalsmithing techniques and exploratory drawing and painting. Open Fri, Sat & Sun 12-5.
Virginia Quilt Museum

A regional gem of Harrisonburg collecting and preserving quilts from Virginia for educational purposes. The Virginia Quilt Museum is a public resource for the study and role of quilts in social and cultural history and the value of quilting as an art.
